A unique mentorship program to enrich the emerging dance artist is offered through training with the
Niagara Dance Company.  This program offers precious opportunities to train, rehearse and perform
 alongside professional contemporary dancers and is designed to mentor individuals who are interested in developing professional dance or related careers.  Students of this program have danced works by Valerie Calam, David Earle, Kathleen Hughes, Graham McKelvie and Mary Jo Mullins.

PROGRAM

GRAHAM BASED TECHNIQUE

Graham technique is derived from the work of American modern dance pioneer, Martha Graham. These classes provide dancers with a deep understanding of the movemen principles of breath, contraction, release, high lift, and
spiral originating in the body's core and radiating out into space. Classes progress through codified exercises
from the floor to standing work and from travelling movement phrases to jumping.

COACHING

Coaching provides one on one opportunities to delve into technical, performance and body conditioning issues.  Students will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their bodies and gain valuable insight into the profession.  These classes also provide priceless opportunities to ask questions and receive detailed personalized feedback.

REPERTOIRE & CREATION

Repertoire is an exciting and challenging way for emerging artists to enhance their technical and performance skills. Students get an opportunity to work with choreographers to learn existing repertoire and/or
have new work created for them. These classes build towards various performance opportunities.

The Mentorship Program  will run from
September 2012 to June 2013 on:

Wednesdays 10:30 am 1:30 pm
Thursdays 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Sundays 1:30 to 4:30 pm

Paid in 2 post dated instalments of $900 -

Students will receive their application package with detailed instructions by email once they have registered.
 Please note:  An alternate audition may be arranged for those students unable to attend on the company's scheduled audition date.    Students must contact the company to arrange an alternate date. 
Students will be notified of their acceptance into within one month of their audition.
